Biography
Chris joined the Adam Smith Business School in 2019. He completed his BAcc Accountancy (Hons), MRes Sociology & Research Methods, and PhD in Accounting at the University of Glasgow.
Chris’ research explores issues around career development and equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace, with a focus on the accountancy profession.
His current research investigates professionals’ experiences of social mobility; the impact of gender and class on inclusion and progression within accounting professional service firms; contemporary developments in working practices; and organisations’ diversity-related disclosures.
Chris is also interested in developing inclusive approaches to learning and teaching and graduate skills.

Chris is currently Adviser of Studies (UG Accounting & Finance); Associate Editor of Accounting Education; Secretary of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Monitoring & Advisory Group; and member (alternate) of the Insolvency Service and R3's Diversity & Inclusion Steering Group.
